Imagine arriving home from a day of work to a juicy strawberry on your front step just waiting to be picked and enjoyed! What a delight!!!
Plant with an everbearing strawberry plant and these cement planters will offer a pop of colour and character to your outdoor living space that you'll love checking every-so-often for a juicy berry.
For best results, place in a sunny area and water as needed, keeping the soil moist but not over saturated/water-logged. When you notice the pot is feeling a little lighter than usual or dry, water until moist again.
Attentive watering and sun are the key to sweet juciy berries.
Once the season is just about over, either replant your strawberry plant out in the garden or once the plant has gone dormant, over-winter in their current pot in a cool garage or cellar.
If storing in a cool spot inside over the winter, be sure to keep the soil slightly damp. Do not let the plant completely dry out, a minimal amount of water will be needed occassionally over the winter to keep the dormant plant alive and well. In the spring of the year when the threat of snow is mostly gone (around May), place back outside to break the plant's dormancy.
Please note, we do not recommend over-wintering this plant outside in its pot, as it leaves the potential for the roots to freeze which will affect the plant's ability to come back the following spring. Leaving the pot outside will also affect the integrity of the planter itself creating the potential for it to split or break. It is best to store in a cool, dry space inside.
